ABOUT
Ben Rosman

I know what it's like to be the executive on the other end of this call - because I've been that person.

I'm Ben Rosman - an attorney Licensed in Oregon and Michigan who spent most of the past decade not in a law firm, but running a company.

From 2014 to 2024, I co-founded and led PSI Labs, one of the first state-licensed cannabis testing laboratories in Michigan. We operated under some of the most heavily regulated and adversarially scrutinized environments I've encountered anywhere - not because cannabis is uniquely complicated, but because we were building something in a space where the rules were written in real time, enforced inconsistently, and sometimes weaponized by the very industry we were meant to serve.

As CEO, I was also the company's in-house legal and regulatory lead. I interpreted statutes that hadn't been tested. I negotiated contracts when there were no templates. I managed regulatory investigations, engaged directly with legislators and agency directors, participated in rulemaking, drafted proposed standards that were ultimately adopted. I raised capital, built a team, and ran operations simultaneously.

I sat in both seats at once - founder and lawyer, operator and regulator - for a decade.

That experience left me with something that's genuinely hard to replicate: a detailed, firsthand understanding of how regulated systems actually work versus how they're supposed to work. Where the real exposure lives. Which rules get enforced and which ones don't. What regulators actually care about in a given situation, regardless of what the statute says. When outside counsel is the right tool and when it adds overhead without adding clarity.

That's the foundation of this practice.

I work with a small number of clients at a time, by design. Engagements are selective. If I don't think I'm the right fit for your situation, I'll tell you - and if I know who is, I'll connect you.

Advisory services here are non-legal in nature, clearly scoped, and priced to reflect the value of the judgment rather than the overhead of a firm. When legal services are the right tool, I provide them directly - always billed separately and clearly distinguished from advisory work.
